Our scholarship

Another way the Arts Council recognizes local talent is to award a scholarship annually to a graduate senior planning to study art in college.

The Brownsville-Haywood County Arts Council is dedicated to giving at least one $1,000 scholarship per year for college students majoring in the performing or creative arts.

Applicants meeting the guidelines can re-apply annually. Areas of study include but are not limited to, architecture, art, drama, dance, music, photography and writing.Applications are available each spring at the HHS guidance departments.

After returning the applications to this department, the Arts Council’s scholarship committee will review applications. This Committee will give priority to students with needs, assuming that academic credentials are met. The scholarship recipient will be announced at HHS graduation in May of each year. Scholarship funds are made payable to designated college of recipients’ choice.

This Arts Council has given over $50,000 to Haywood County college students in the past 15 years. At this time we have a second year recipient at MTSU and a first year recipient at UTM. This Arts Council feels it is involved in these students’ education and life ahead.
